Adding that personal touch of stained glass to any room in your house is what can make a house uniquely your home. This homeowner came to Suevel Studios with a round stained glass window wanting to know if we could somehow highlight the stained glass for their sunroom windows. The round panel was one of three that had been made by the client's great-grandfather and grandfather when her grandfather had been a young man. The panel was dirty from years of accumlated grime, coming apart in places and had hand painted elements that had not been kiln fired so they would wash off if care was not taken to preserve them. In addition, as most hand-made items are, the window was not a true circle.
Our normal cleaning process of soaking the window would have to be changed and special care had to be taken so as not to remove the painted elements. The window was cleaned using Q-tips and distilled water. Once the cleaning and repair work was completed on the homeowner’s original window we created a very simple design to square it up. The homeowner did not want the additon to distract from the original window but rather showcase her great-grandfather's and grandfather's work.
Subsequently when we finished the main window we fashioned the two accent corner windows to compliment the main window. Once installed the window made a beautiful and meaningful centerpiece to the homeowner's sunroom.
