Want to see something real unusual? Check out how this guy paints. I am trying to convince my father-in-law who is besides a notable minister an impressive artist that he should try painting this way. If for no other reason it would be funny to watch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZFkZiwMLZ4
This is going to be a real trip, me writing my thoughts and stuff so you guys can read about what ever it might be. HA! Well, the first thing that needs to be done is to remind everyone that this month is Peanut Butter Fun Month. I’m not sure what that entails, but I read it in some news article somewhere. One thing you will find out about me is that I am a plethora of useless information. Just ask my family they all think I’m a little confused about life, but that’s what makes things fun.
Speaking of fun, if you are ever looking for something to do, go on a great vacation, meet wonderful people, enjoy warm weather, and shower in the great outdoors. Then you need to check out the Solid Rock Carpenters they are a GREAT group of people doing remarkable things for those that need help. They have been on a mission to help rebuild the New Orleans area for the past couple years since Katrina and the work that they are doing is astounding. I went with them on two trips to Slidell, La. and I have to admit they were very moving experiences; experiences that will stay with me forever.
The first time I went down to Slidell, LA. with this group it was only a few months after Katrina. As I flew into New Orleans all I could see was thousands upon thousands of blue tarps covering roof tops; or at least what was left of roof tops. When I got off the plane the first thing that hit me beside the humidity was how desolate New Orleans had become. As I was driven out to Slidell by a taxi it looked like I was going through a war zone with deserted decimated buildings and cars everywhere. I found out later that there were less than 100,000 people in the entire area of New Orleans and Slidell. Eighty-five percent of the area had no electric, people were living in tents and make shift ramshackle huts everywhere. I felt like I had just stepped into some third world country or the Twilight Zone; as the saying goes I wasn’t in Kansas any more.
For the next five days I worked hard, sweated a lot, found muscles I forgot I had, made new friends, laughed often and cried on a few occasions. I’m telling you the people of the Slidell and New Orleans area are wonderful. So if you are looking for that exotic trip with adventure, check out the SOLID ROCK CARPENTERS. Can be fun for the whole family!!! Check out their website it if you want information http://www.solidrockcarpenters.org/pages/index.html
